Welcome to St Mary’s Catholic Life

At St Mary’s, our Catholic Life is at the heart of everything we do. Guided by our mission to live out God’s calling, we strive to create an environment where every child can grow in faith, love and service. Our school community is inspired by the Gospel and committed to reflecting God’s love in our actions every day.

Prayer and Worship

Prayer shapes our day, our learning and our relationships. It helps us live out our mission: “Called by God.” This year, we are focusing on being Pilgrims of Hope, walking together in faith and trust.

Daily Classroom Prayer

Every day begins and ends with prayer in every classroom. Children lead simple, age-appropriate prayers that help them pause, reflect and thank God for His love and guidance. We also pray before lunch and often include personal intentions, helping children see prayer as a natural part of life.

(Add clip art of children praying or a prayer corner here for a warm visual touch.)

Child-Led Worship

Our pupils regularly lead celebrations of the Word, sharing Scripture, prayers and reflections with their peers. This nurtures confidence, leadership and a deeper understanding of God’s Word.

Whole-School Worship

Each week, we gather as one family to pray and celebrate together. These moments of unity remind us that God is at the heart of our school community.

Visits to Church

We regularly visit our parish church for Mass and special services, deepening our connection with the wider faith community and giving children time for quiet reflection in a sacred space.

Creative Prayer

Prayer isn’t just words – it can be art, music, movement and silence. We encourage children to explore different ways of praying so they can connect with God in a way that feels personal and meaningful.

Celebrating the Liturgical Year

Our school calendar is filled with opportunities to celebrate key moments in the Church year. From Advent and Lent to feast days and themed events like Mary Day, we come together in prayer and worship to mark these special times. We also hold Stations of the Cross, Stay and Pray sessions for families, and whole-school Masses.

Catholic Social Teaching in Action

Faith inspires service. We live out Catholic Social Teaching through projects such as foodbank collections, charity fundraising, and community outreach. These activities help children understand the importance of helping others and making a positive difference.

Sacramental Preparation

We support children preparing for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in partnership with our parish. This is a special time for families and the school community to grow together in faith.

Pupil Leadership in Faith

Our head students and Children’s Leadership Team play an active role in Catholic Life. They help lead prayer, support worship, and encourage others to live out Gospel values.

Parent and Parish Involvement

We value the strong partnership between home, school and parish. Parents are invited to join us for Stay and Pray sessions, school Masses and other celebrations throughout the year.

Why It Matters

Catholic Life at St Mary’s isn’t just something we do – it’s who we are. It helps us live out our mission every day, reminding us that we are pilgrims of hope, walking together in faith, prayer and love
