Charity and Community at St Mary’s
“Called by God to love and serve others.”
At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, our mission Called by God inspires us to live out our faith through acts of charity and service. We believe in making a positive difference both locally and globally, showing care and compassion for those in need.
Charity Work
We are proud to support a wide range of charitable causes throughout the year:
- CAFOD: We regularly fundraise for CAFOD through events such as the Big Lent Walk, and even our Headteacher has taken part in the Great North Run to raise funds.
- Special Causes: We celebrate and raise money for World Diabetes Day, Children in Need, St Teresa’s Hospice, and many more important charities.
- Harvest Appeal: Our Children’s Head Students lead a drive to collect donations for the local food bank during Harvest, ensuring families in our community receive support.
Community Engagement
We love being active members of our local community:
- Sustainability Conversations: Our pupils and staff regularly engage with local businesses to discuss sustainability and environmental responsibility.
- Remembrance: We have planted knitted poppies at St Clare’s Church as a tribute to those who served.
- Care Home Visits: Our children visit St Clare’s Care Home, sharing joy and companionship with residents.
- Community Singing: We bring festive cheer by singing for the community at our local Tesco store.
Through these activities, we aim to live out our mission of being Called by God—serving others with love, kindness, and respect.
