Pupils at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe have been showcasing their artistic talents during a highly successful Christian Art Week, creating a range of beautiful pieces inspired by faith, creativity and learning.
Throughout the week, children across the school immersed themselves in a variety of art activities, producing impressive work that reflects both their imagination and dedication. The school community is now looking forward to sharing these creations with families at a special art gallery exhibition in the school hall after school.
The exhibition offers parents and carers the opportunity to see the artwork up close and celebrate the hard work and achievements of the pupils.
A highlight of the week was the work created by Year 4, who explored the fascinating art of illuminated letters. The children learned about this historic artistic style before designing and creating their own detailed and colourful versions. Their stunning pieces demonstrated great creativity and attention to detail and provided a wonderful start to Christian Art Week.
Headteacher, Emily Millward said:
“Last week was an incredible Christian Art Week, and we created some truly beautiful pieces. We are so excited to welcome families to our art gallery and see all of our hard work on display. Your support means the world to us.”
The event has given pupils the chance to develop their artistic skills, express themselves creatively and take pride in sharing their work with the wider school community.
