Pupils from Year 1 at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe enjoyed a fantastic educational visit to Seaham beach, combining outdoor learning with fun seaside activities.

The trip gave children the opportunity to explore the coastline, enjoy the fresh sea air, and take part in a range of engaging activities designed to support their learning outside the classroom.

Exploring the Seaside Environment

During the visit, pupils spent time searching for interesting shells and pieces of sea glass, as well as building sandcastles along the shore. These hands-on experiences helped bring their learning about the seaside environment to life.

The children showed great curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the day, asking thoughtful questions and taking a keen interest in what they discovered. Staff noted how well pupils worked together, demonstrating strong teamwork skills while enjoying the activities.

Outstanding Behaviour and Teamwork

A highlight of the trip was the excellent behaviour shown by all pupils. Children consistently demonstrated kindness, cooperation, and strong listening skills, making the day enjoyable and safe for everyone involved.

Staff at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School praised the pupils for representing the school so positively during the visit. Their behaviour reflected the school’s values and commitment to respect and teamwork.
