St Mary’s Netball Cup Match Report written by our Media Correspondents, Evie and Nancy
On Thursday 23rd April, St Mary’s played in an exciting netball cup tournament. Our team consisted of Ben, Anelis, Eden (captain), Mario, Floretta, Maddison and Millie Grace. First, we played really well and progressed into the cup competition.
The quarter-final was very tense and went to a sudden-death shoot-out. Everyone was nervous, but Ben took an amazing shot and scored to help us win the game. Next was the semi-final. It was a dramatic match and both teams played their best. St Mary’s won 2–1, and we were all cheering loudly at the end.
The final was against another school in Newton Aycliffe called Vane Road. The game was end to end, with both teams scoring great goals, but St Mary’s won 2–1. Anelis scored the winning goal in the final minute of the game.
We were very proud because we are now going to represent the county at the Beacon of Light in Sunderland! Well done to our whole team for showing teamwork, determination and great sportsmanship!
