Year 6 pupils from St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe enjoyed a fantastic day at Hamsterley Forest, taking part in a range of activities focused on wellbeing, teamwork and personal challenge.
Surrounded by the beautiful forest environment, the children took part in a Wellbeing Walk, giving them the opportunity to slow down, connect with nature and reflect on the things that help them feel happy and healthy.
The visit also included a creative activity where pupils worked together to create a mandala using natural materials collected from the forest floor. Through this task, the children explored the idea of connection and considered how everything in the natural world is linked.
There was also plenty of excitement as the group tackled an obstacle course. The activity encouraged teamwork, determination and resilience, while providing lots of opportunities for laughter and fun throughout the day.
The trip combined physical activity, reflection and collaboration, helping pupils to develop important life skills while enjoying the outdoors.
It was a busy and rewarding day for Year 6, filled with challenges, creativity and shared experiences. The children represented St Mary's Catholic Primary School wonderfully and embraced every opportunity throughout their visit to Hamsterley Forest.
