Our St Mary’s pupils have had an unforgettable week in Aviemore, packed with adventure, teamwork, faith, and plenty of fun. From the moment we arrived, the children threw themselves into every activity with enthusiasm and resilience, making this a week to remember.

A Week on the Slopes

Each day, the children spent time skiing in their groups and made amazing progress throughout the week.

✨ First‑Time Skiers

Our beginners started the week learning the essentials:

  • how to start and stop
  • using the snowplough
  • turning safely on the slopes

Their confidence grew each day, and by mid‑week, many were proudly riding up the ski lift and skiing down the slope independently. A huge achievement!

⛷️ Experienced Skiers

Our more advanced group had a fantastic week too. They enjoyed:

  • weaving in and out of obstacles
  • tackling higher and steeper slopes
  • refining their technique with great determination

Their joy on the slopes was contagious, and they set a brilliant example for our first‑timers.

Activities Beyond Skiing

As if skiing for hours each day wasn't enough, the children showed impressive energy all week!

They enjoyed:

  • Swimming sessions after skiing
  • Delicious meals, including the ever‑popular chicken burgers
  • A visit to the tuck shop
  • Evening games and sports with friends

Every evening brought laughter, chatter, and memories made.

Faith, Reflection, and Courage

Throughout the week, we made time for reflection, exploring how our faith supports us when we try new things or face challenges.

One highlight was listening to the story of David and Goliath. The children acted out the story together and reflected on how David’s trust in God gave him courage — just as they have shown courage on the slopes.

These moments of stillness and sharing were truly special.

Movie Night Magic

Halfway through the week, everyone gathered in the theatre for a showing of Wonka, which was a huge hit and a wonderful way to unwind after busy days on the mountain.

A Fantastic Week from Start to Finish

We have had the best week so far in Aviemore. The children have been outstanding—kind, brave, supportive, and full of enthusiasm. They are already excited and raring to go for the next adventures ahead.

What a wonderful experience it has been for every single pupil!
