Religious Education is at the core of our curriculum and we believe that children learn best when teaching is delivered in a creative, inspiring and engaging way.
Our pupils enjoy exploring their spirituality and deepening their understanding of their faith through art, music, drama and dance. They are keen to take a lead in developing their own learning journey and sharing their faith with others.
In our school we follow the ‘Come and See’ Catholic Primary Religious Education Programme.
‘Come and See’ offers the opportunity for children to search, to explore, to discover and to respond; this is part of what it is to be human.

Come and See the wonder of all that is within them and beyond them

Teachers
Facilitate the opportunity for children to Come and See
Come and See is developed through three themes based on the documents of the Second Vatican Council, which are explored in each year group, each time at a greater depth. They are ‘Church’, ‘Sacrament’, and ‘Christian Living’.
Each term there are basic questions and beliefs that are explored through three kinds of themes:
Community of Faith – Church
Celebration in ritual – Sacraments
Way of Life – Christian Living.

Relationships and Health Education at St Mary’s
At St Mary’s, we believe every child is created, chosen and loved by God. Our approach to Relationships and Health Education (RHE) reflects this belief and helps children grow in confidence, respect and understanding.
We use Life to the Full, a programme from Ten Ten Resources, which is designed especially for Catholic schools. It teaches children about friendships, health, emotional wellbeing and living in community – all through a lens of faith.
What makes Life to the Full special?
- Faith at the heart: Lessons include prayer, reflection and worship.
- Age‑appropriate learning: From Reception to Year 6, children explore topics in a way that suits their stage of development.
- Engaging resources: Videos, stories and activities make learning interactive and meaningful.
- Working together: Parents can access an online portal to see what their child is learning and join in at home.
What do children learn?
The programme is built around three themes:
- Created and Loved by God – understanding ourselves, our bodies and our feelings.
- Created to Love Others – building positive relationships and learning how to stay safe, including online.
- Created to Live in Community – exploring family, community and the wider world.
Why this matters
Life to the Full meets all government requirements for RHE and follows the Catholic Education Service model curriculum. It helps children develop healthy attitudes and strong values, preparing them for life in today’s world.
